Growing up on a Sydney chicken farm, moving to Tasmania as a teenager and travelling to over 35 countries before settling in Adelaide, Adam Mizzi’s life boasts big adventure.

With Maltese heritage, there was always a Mediterranean influence in the Mizzi kitchen and Adam has fond childhood memories of making pastizzis from scratch.

Adam went to Tasmania’s Maritime College and forged a career at sea, working as a steward on the Spirit of Tasmania. The lure of the sea led to almost a decade spent working aboard ships. At one point, Adam worked as a bartender on the world’s largest nuclear-powered ice-breakers off Russian waters, catering North Pole expeditions for very wealthy clientele.

Adam’s love of travel led him to leading a number of American summer camps, during which he met his American partner Lauren. After some time living in Seattle, the pair moved to South Australia.

A fitness fanatic and rowing enthusiast, Adam was soon plotting a new business to combine his love of travel, the outdoors and action sports. Tapping into his own experience, he recently launched The Adventure Locker, a holiday program for teenagers that offers inspiring, outdoor experiences.

Adam is inspired in the kitchen by the likes of Duncan Welgemoed, Shane Delia, Maggie Beer, Sean Connolly and Jamie Oliver.

Adam dreams of combining his passion for travel and the outdoors with healthy food, and aims to expand his business into the food sectpr. He is passionate about local South Australian produce and educating people about the origins of food.[1]
